Sky Love

When fog sweeps in off the sea

I’m sometimes called through tall wet grass

Wild grass, upon a wild hillside

To lie in a certain hollow

Where the mist washes over me

Cheek to earth, arms reaching wide

Fingers twined in dune hair

Bare torso licked by a clear multitude

Of miniscule droplets

I lie still and surrender

Believe it or not

I feel each one fall

Like a bright, cool kiss

A tiny explosion of light

Upon my broad skinned surface.

How can I explain?

Can any human lover kiss

In a hundred places at once?

Or with such brilliant lips?

But love doesn’t last

A pale blue cast slowly takes the sky

Sunlight wins the hill

And my tiny lovers vanish,

Taken up

Into who knows where
